Thoughts on being a reader

Shannon Hale has some terrific posts on her blog (http://oinks.squeetus.com/) about being a reader. I think she posted them to assuage some of the anger stemming from a recently published book by a friend of hers. While it doesn't make me like the book any better, it did make me more forgiving towards the author. (Except for dissing Gilbert Blythe, of course.)

That was great, Jenilyn! Now I feel ashamed over that mean book review I did on that last book of hers with the yaks in it - I can't even remember the title now! I enjoyed the book, but all I could go on about was how she set it in a Mongolia full of people with European sentiments. Instead I should have talked about how well she nailed the effects of severe emotional abuse.

Off-topic, but the mention of Gilbert Blythe brought this recently-discovered video clip to mind.

This is why I don't read other YA novels whilst writing my own novels, hehee!
